Targeting Global Robotics and Mobility Markets with “Full-Stack Custom NPU Solutions”

AiM Future, a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) IP design has signed a strategic MOU with SoC optimization fabless company Soteria to collaboratively penetrate the Edge AI semiconductor market. Moving beyond fragmented IP licensing, the two companies will co-develop a “Full-Stack, Customer-Tailored NPU Solution”. This approach embeds end-user requirements directly into the chip architecture, delivering a plug-and-play integrated solution optimized 100% for specific client missions.

The partnership directly addresses the limitations of commercial off-the-shelf generic chips (COTS), which suffer from heat, power, and form-factor constraints. In this joint project, AiM Future provides its highly efficient NPU architecture IP and edge inference optimization technologies. Meanwhile, Soteria handles chip design and verification based on Samsung Foundry’s 4nm process, utilizing its proprietary EDA tool ‘DEF Genie’ to optimize PPAC (Power, Performance, Area, Cost) and drastically shorten Time-to-Market (TAT).

Supported by the robust global growth infrastructure of Seoul AI Hub, the consortium is aggressively targeting four high-growth vertical markets:

  • Robotics: Industrial automation, logistics robots, and humanoids requiring real-time edge inference.
  • Smart Mobility: Maximizing energy efficiency for in-vehicle AI operations like ADAS and connected cars.
  • Industrial IoT: High-reliability chip solutions engineered for extreme heat and high-vibration smart factories.
  • Specialized Equipment: Dedicated standalone computing NPUs for drones, UAM, and defense sectors.

“This MOU creates a powerful synergy by combining Korea’s premier NPU IP with world-class chip design expertise,” stated the CEOs of both companies. “Leveraging Seoul AI Hub’s ecosystem, we will rapidly deliver battlefield-ready, custom NPUs to become ultimate game-changers in the global Edge AI market.”
